Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 13, 2026

FainLane is operated by Prashant Anand, an individual business operator based in Japan. In this policy, “we,” “us,” and “our” mean that operator.

This policy explains how information is handled by the FainLane Mac app, this website, purchases, and support. For privacy questions or requests, contact prashant@fainlane.com. Our business address is available promptly and free of charge on request.

Your images

FainLane sends images directly from your Mac to the remote machine associated with your supported terminal session, using SSH. Images do not pass through servers operated by us, and we do not receive your clipboard images through the paste feature.

The app does not poll the clipboard in the background or collect a clipboard history. It reads image content for supported remote image pastes that you initiate. An explicit clipboard-permission setup action may also read and discard a clipboard representation.

The paste process preserves your clipboard. Only copy actions you explicitly choose, such as copying the last uploaded path, replace its contents.

Images placed on your remote machine remain there until you or someone with access to that machine removes them. If you give a coding agent access to an image, its handling of that image is governed by your setup and that provider’s policies. FainLane does not control those services.

Information stored on your Mac

FainLane stores recent paste information locally to support recovery and troubleshooting:

Information Local retention limits
Images processed through supported remote pastes, including unsuccessful uploads 30 days or 1 GB, whichever limit is reached first
Transfer records, including timestamps, destination details, file paths, and outcomes 30 days or 10,000 records, whichever limit is reached first
Diagnostic logs containing limited technical events 7 days or 5 MB, whichever limit is reached first

Older data is removed during app maintenance. Maintenance runs while the app is running; these limits do not mean that files are deleted while the app is closed. Some images may not be saved if they exceed storage limits or local saving fails.

You can clear local images and transfer records in Settings → Storage, and diagnostic logs separately in Settings → Diagnostics. Clearing local data does not delete remote images, reset permissions, or remove preferences. Reports you export, and copies retained in your own backups, are outside the app’s cleanup controls.

Preferences and the local information needed to manage your trial and license are kept separately from paste records.

Diagnostics and updates

The app has no usage analytics or automatic crash-report or diagnostic uploads. Local diagnostic logs exclude images, hostnames, usernames, file paths, SSH credentials, command output, and command-line or environment contents. A report you choose to export includes limited information such as app and macOS versions, outcomes, timing, and storage health. You can review it before saving or sharing it.

FainLane uses Sparkle to check for and install app updates. Update and download requests expose ordinary connection information to the hosting service, including your IP address and app/updater versions. System profiling is disabled. Update requests do not include your license key, customer information, clipboard contents, images, remote destinations, or paste records. You can turn off automatic update checks in Settings.

Update and download hosting is provided by Netlify.

Purchases and licensing

Lemon Squeezy acts as the merchant of record for purchases and handles checkout, payment processing, applicable sales taxes, subscription billing, and receipts. Its handling of purchase and payment information is described in the Lemon Squeezy Privacy Policy.

We can access information supplied through Lemon Squeezy to manage purchases and licenses, such as your name, email address, order and subscription information, and billing or tax details made available to us. We do not receive your full payment-card number or card security code.

FainLane sends your license key and, depending on the action, a randomly generated installation identifier or an activation identifier issued by Lemon Squeezy to Lemon Squeezy over HTTPS to activate, validate, and deactivate your license. These requests check licensed access and enforce the one-Mac limit. The identifiers can be associated with your purchase; they are not anonymous. These connections also expose ordinary network metadata, including your connecting IP address and request timing.

The installation identifier does not contain your Mac’s name, hostname, username, or hardware identifier. A hardware identifier used for local license binding stays on your Mac. Licensing requests do not send clipboard contents, images, paste records, terminal content, SSH connection details, file paths, diagnostics, customer names, email addresses, or payment details. Purchases and subscription management take place separately on Lemon Squeezy’s website and are subject to its privacy policy.

The 14-day trial begins on first launch and does not require an account, email address, or payment card.

Website and support

This website does not use Google Analytics, advertising pixels, or marketing trackers. It does not offer a newsletter or use third-party video embeds. Hosting services may process request information, such as IP addresses, requested pages, browser information, and timestamps, to serve and secure the website.

Website hosting is provided by Netlify. We use Netlify for static hosting only and have not enabled visitor analytics, password protection, or visitor authentication. Lemon Squeezy checkout and customer pages are separate services and have their own privacy and cookie practices.

When you email us, we receive your email address, message, and any attachments you choose to send. We use them to answer your request, investigate problems, and resolve purchase or license issues. Support email is handled through Google Workspace. We do not add support contacts or purchasers to a marketing mailing list.

Why we use information and how long we keep it

We use purchase, license, and support information to provide FainLane, manage your subscription, and respond to you. We use limited connection and security information to operate and protect our services. We may also keep records needed for accounting, legal obligations, and disputes.

Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, these purposes rely on performing our contract with you, taking steps you request before purchase, our legitimate interests in providing support and maintaining secure services, or meeting legal obligations, as applicable.

We retain information only as long as reasonably needed for those purposes. For example, license information may be needed while a subscription is active; support correspondence while an issue or related follow-up remains relevant; and transaction records for applicable accounting or legal requirements. We delete or anonymize information when it is no longer needed. Lemon Squeezy and other providers may retain information independently under their own obligations and policies.

Sharing, security, and international processing

We do not sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising. Information may be handled by the payment, licensing, hosting, and email providers described above, and by professional advisers when needed for legal or accounting matters. We may disclose information when legally required or reasonably necessary to establish, exercise, or defend legal rights.

We use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the information we handle, including limiting access and using secure service connections. No system can guarantee absolute security. Your Mac, remote server, and any backups remain under your control or that of the providers you choose.

We operate in Japan. Netlify, Google Workspace, and Lemon Squeezy may process information in the United States and other countries. Their privacy and data-processing terms describe the applicable safeguards: Netlify, Google Workspace, and Lemon Squeezy. For details, contact prashant@fainlane.com.

Your choices and rights

Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access or obtain a copy of your personal information, correct it, request deletion, restrict or object to processing, and receive certain information in a portable format. Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw that consent without affecting earlier lawful processing. You may also complain to the relevant data-protection authority, including Japan’s Personal Information Protection Commission.

Contact prashant@fainlane.com to make a request. We may ask for information reasonably necessary to verify your identity and will respond within the period required by applicable law. Some records must be retained for legal reasons. Deleting information necessary to validate a license may affect our ability to provide licensed access; we will explain that before acting on your request.

We cannot remotely access or delete the images and records stored on your Mac or remote server. You can manage those copies yourself. Requests concerning information Lemon Squeezy independently controls can also be directed to Lemon Squeezy.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when our practices change and revise the date above. For material changes, we will provide additional notice where required. If a new use of information requires consent, we will obtain it before that use begins.
